About the Role

We seek an experienced and talented Python Backend Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining server-side web application logic, as well as working closely with front-end developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and high performance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating scalable, robust, and efficient backend solutions to support various business applications.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain server-side logic, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and reliability of web applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Design and implement APIs and RESTful services that adhere to industry standards.
• Work with databases, including setup, maintenance, and optimisation.
• Optimise application performance and ensure scalability and security.
• Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code, following best practices for Python development.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best coding practices.
• Collaborate with other teams, including QA, DevOps, and Product Management, to deliver robust applications.
• Maintain comprehensive development process documentation, including technical specifications and API documentation.

About You

The essentials:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or higher), Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a backend developer with a focus on Python.
• Proven Experience in Python Development - Hands-on experience with Python and a strong understanding of core Python concepts, including object-oriented programming, data structures, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with popular Python frameworks, such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI, and the ability to leverage these for efficient development.
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
• Proficiency with database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture is a plus.
• Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and software development lifecycle.
• Understanding front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, TypeScript and ReactJS is a bonus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Not a must, but a plus:

• Experience with containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• While a strong foundation in Python is essential for this role, we also value candidates who demonstrate additional programming capabilities. Specifically, we're seeking individuals who possess secondary proficiency in either Python or TypeScript. This implies that you have a solid understanding of the language's syntax, core concepts, and common libraries, and can comfortably use it to write scripts, utilities, or even smaller applications.
