Principal Solutions Engineer

As a Principal Solutions Engineer at Backbase, you're the strategic expert who leads the most high-profile customer engagements. You'll work closely with senior sholders at banks and credit unions, helping them map out their future with Backbase's platform. Your technical depth, combined with your industry knowledge, allows you to design complex solutions that address both immediate challenges and long-term goals. You're also a mentor-helping Senior and Junior Solutions Engineers up their game by sharing your expertise in solutioning, presentations, and handling senior-level sholders.

What you'll do

• Lead the technical solution strategy for large, complex customer accounts, ensuring alignment with business goals;

• Deliver high-ss product demos that showcase the full power of Backbase's platform and meet executive-level expectations;

• Guide senior customer sholders (including C-suite) through the technical and business benefits of Backbase, helping them shape their digital banking strategy;

• Handle the most difficult objections, bringing a mix of creativity, technical insight, and business acumen to resolve concerns;

• Mentor Senior and Junior Solutions Engineers, helping them develop their skills and grow into leadership roles;

• Influence the competitive strategy for major deals, ensuring Backbase is positioned as the clear winner;

• Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Services teams to ensure seamless customer engagements and solution delivery;

• of complex RFPs and proposals, making sure Backbase's value is crystal clear to senior decision-makers;

• Build deep, long-term relationships with senior customer sholders, positioning yourself and Backbase as their trusted advisor;

• Provide feedback to the Product team, helping shape future features based on real-world customer needs;

• Drive innovation within the Solutions Engineering team, introducing new best practices and methodologies;

• Stay on top of market trends and industry insights, continually refining your approach to Solutions Engineering.

Next-Grade Focus:

• Engage in more strategic planning with C-level executives at global, multinational customers;

• Lead by example by taking of the most complex, high-value deals;

• a more active role in shaping Backbase's product roadmap based on industry trends and customer feedback;

• Develop thought leadership by representing Backbase at industry events and contributing to the broader banking conversation.

Who you are

• A can-do mentality is of more importance than many years of experience;

• You think and act like an entrepreneur; experience in running your own business will be a big plus:

• You have the courage to learn and to share your learning process with us;

• We won't have to tell you anything about enterprise software architectures or mobile and web technologies. Your expert knowledge is up to date;

• You're not afraid of the following technologies: Java, Spring, Angular, iOS, Android and Kubernetes;

• You don't mind discovering the world by traveling around 30% of your time;

• You have a demonstrable understanding of modern architectural patterns such as containerization, microservices, API gateways etc;

• You have created solutions for financial services (especially banking);

• Last but not least, you have excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
