Job Description:

As our first products are being scaled and we are seeking an Experienced Compounding Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing formulations, technology transfer and scaling, and improving compounding processes for high-performance polymers such as specialty polyamides, polyimides and polyesters. The compounding takes place at different locations in the world. Travelling is needed to support production of our compounds at third party tollers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Scale-Up and organize Production Support: Assist in scaling formulations from R&D to full-scale production of specialty compounds while troubleshooting processing issues.
  • Optimize Formulations: Develop and refine polymer formulations (glass, FR as example) to achieve superior mechanical, thermal, and chemical performance.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze and improve compounding processes with the tollers to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with R&D, production, and commercial teams to align process improvements with business objectives.
  • Technology Development: Stay up to date with industry advancements and contribute to the development of innovative material solutions.
  • Ensure compatibility with high-performance compounds.
  • Support Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality and production teams to maintain and enhance product consistency.
  • Support Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all formulations and processes comply with relevant industry and environmental regulations (eg UL)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Background: Minimum a Bachelor degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in compounding high-performance polymers, preferably specialty polyamides, polyimides and polyesters.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of (twin-screw) extrusion, additives, fillers, and polymer modifications.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve processing and formulation challenges.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to document and present findings effectively.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment in different cultures.
